At last, you too can live your dream, to be a twelve-pound ball of tar.

Gish is the new side-scrolling platformer from Chronic Logic. The titular character is a ball of tar. "Oh, not another tar-based platformer!" I can hear you saying, but this one is different, I swear! Gish can stick to things, and he can be really heavy. Sometimes he can be slick and he can roll around. Also, he can sort of jump, but it's really more of a bounce. That's it. No guns, no night vision, no witty repartee with the villains. And yet, what more do you need? I mean, come on, 'Sonic the Hedgehog' was one of the greatest games ever, and it could be effectively played with two buttons, forward and jump. Gish, contrariwise to the hedgehog, will need to use all of his abilities to succeed, combining moves and momentum at breakneck speed to, among other things, ride a minecart, swing over lava, and play a primitive, tar-based form of 'Break-Out'.

Get it. The game is twenty bucks, and worth it. The demo is free, and even more worth it. You've never played anything quite like it, and probably never will again. There's a thing I like to say, when fun is imminent, and it is this: "Fun Ahoy!". And with Gish, fun is definitely ahoy. Whee!
