...buying coffee, when I hear Ahmed curse loudly. It seems he just lost a chess match to Brian. I bop on over to wish both of them a good day, as is my wont. Now, Ahmed has thumped me soundly at chess more than once, so I say to Brian that I won't challenge him, as I will surely lose, to which he responds "Well, how about a Shinai fight, then?"

"A what now?" I ask.

"A Shinai fight. Japanese bamboo swords, also called Kendo sticks."

"... okay!"

And that's how I ended up getting beaten with a bamboo rod yesterday afternoon by a guy I barely knew.

Sometimes life just takes a turn for the silly, doesn't it?
