The full story.

So, I was sick yesterday. Still am, frankly, but yesterday was worse. And I was scheduled to work. On Wednesday I worked four hours, and it almost killed me, and while I was a little better yesterday, I still felt the full eight would be bad. FURTHERMORE, everyone I know was telling me to call in sick, because I looked more or less like hell. So, after a lot of hemming and hawing and struggling with my inclination to be a dutiful worker no matter what, I worked up the gumption to call in sick.

And they said no. Specifically, the General Manager of the store said I would need a doctor's note, because if I'm sick enough to miss work, I'm sick enough to see a doctor, store policy. Let us ignore for a moment the fact that this is a batshit retarded store policy. Let us instead concentrate on the fact that this batshit retarded store policy was explained to me via threat, as in "you'll bring a doctor's note if you want to continue having a job here". To which there was only one possible response: "...alright. I quit. Bye!"

Maybe there are other potential responses, but by george, when you are sick and angry, as I was, and the option to be a petty little quitting bastard is glowing red at you, drowning out every more rational thought, you take it! You take it and you don't look back! Until next Friday. Next Friday I look back because I'll need to pick up some paychecks. That'll be awkward. But until then.

If you really dont want to go back you could just have them mail you your last pay check.
Or just forge a doctors note if you want to keep working for the corporate machine. Also you should stick it to them and say you want them to pay your doctors bill as well, since you wouldnt go to the doctors if you didnt think that not going would cost you your job.

I suggested suing, because I'm fairly sure it's illegal for an employer to ask you to work 7 days a week and that doctors note clause is also quite fucking ridiculous. Or, again, stealing is always a fun option.
