Lokfateel.

So, today Mononica tossed her hat into the NaNoWriMo ring. That brings us up to five folks in this very dorm, her, Jersey, the Twins, and Ed. Me. Which means that the odds are nearly certain that there will be at least one Rice Hall novel before December. Which brings us to the topic of me talking about my novel. Now, I'm no Tolkien, writing a book just to excuse making up a language from scratch, but I do have a main character who was born millennia before anyone else he talks to, and I don't plan to gloss that over. Check out the title of the post: 'lokfateel'. It's something one of the major players says often, and she'll be the first to tell you that its in English. Now, it ain't spelled like that... thanks to Mr. Gutenberg* spelling will remain pretty much consistent. But, accents and dialects will come and go, and a phonetic version of an incomprehensibly thick pronunciation of an idiom that was created centuries after you disappeared will look nothing like language.

It means something along the lines of "have fun in spite of dangerous or stressful situations". And the 'k' is misleading... it's very light, mostly there to affect the pronunciation of the 'o'.

Well, I ain't translating.

*Johann, not Steve. Although if there were a contest between the Bible and Police Academy... well... I know who would win the 'increasingly crappy sequel' portion.
